Send the exact car, not just the model
Bring the listing, VIN, mileage, price, trim, and location. Add service history, an inspection report, or photos if you have them. Also say how you expect to use the car.
What Steady should check
- Does the VIN, trim, year, and equipment match the listing?
- Are there open recalls or important service campaigns?
- Is the price plausible against similar local cars?
- Which known issues are relevant to this year and drivetrain?
- What maintenance may be due soon?
- Which seller claims still need documents or inspection?
Do not accept a confident score
Ask for four buckets: verified, seller says, estimated, and unknown. A listing can look excellent while title history, accident repairs, battery health, corrosion, or deferred maintenance remain unknown.
Before paying, verify the VIN and title, obtain an independent inspection, price insurance for the exact vehicle, and put promised repairs or warranty terms in writing.
